This macro videography is recorded using my S7 edge and Nikon D5100 with both on auto mode. S7 video looks abit washed out maybe due to thhe extreme HDR effect. By the way, hopefully this video helps you guys to decide with camera to use for your videography project.

  1. nobody mentioned HOW GOOD the SOUND (mic quality) is on S7 ! amasing stereo sound. , overall S7 better dynamic range, better focus, better pixel sharpness. 5100 wins with the bokeh thou.

  2. I have plenty of cameras but now am converting to Samsung after I borrowed an s7 to film an event. Low light ease of use compactness good quality at 4K/1080p and ability to send video out to web on the go. Sold my Nikon D7000 and D700 and all lenses.
S7 is an all in one for travel and daily use AND you can use it as a PHONE as well !!!

  3. The S7 is amazing but, you got the wrong camera for video. First of all, it seems like you don't have much experience either. You didn't make it fair. Get a full frame or a 4K supported DSLR. Second, The S7 shoots at an aperture of f/1.7, this was barely shot at f/4. Third, it's only fair if you compare the best with the best. Try doing the same with a D850, I doubt the S7 would last a second.

  4. The S7 has advantages over a big camera. u can share them online straight away & waterproof, compact & has a better frame rate

  5. you should have used manual settings in both devices, then some of the pics from the gs7 would have been improved dramatically.

  6. The cooler tint on the Nikon looks better for me. I hate the yellowish look of the photo on the S7. Like someone had Hepatitis.

  7. I'm an average person who's not some avid photographer or cinematographer… I've had canon t3i, xsi, sl1, bunch of other beginner canon DSLR's (I buy and sell them on craigslist haha). My most recent DSLR, SL1 lasted me about 2years w/ the pancake lens. I recently sold it and bought the S7…

Top reason is I can bring it everywhere w/o having to bring a bag, extra lens, etc. and it's so compact, I love it!

If you're a person like me, you don't really need a DSLR to take amazing pics.

  8. come on, no real dslr-owning photographer is ever going to shoot in automode. go manual with some lenses and watch it blow ANY camera phone out of the water.

  9. Kinda expected ,DSLR are not that good at video, S7 is the king of the camera, it does lose in photography to D5500( i have it) but on video the s7 usually have the edge, at 4K at least.

  10. (Apologies, just curious) For some reasons, for me, flower shots from S7 seem to be very blurry and washed out, that can be considered below normal for smartphone standards… may I know the phone in-depth settings during the tests? If there's nothing more, I guess its just what you stated on the video description

  11. S7 has a lot more dynamic range. The Canon looks terrible color-wise and seems to be terrible to fix in post-processing. The s7 has better focus, higher framerate, much sharper image and the shallow depth of field only engages when you get to a certain point in distance from the subject. You missed the bokeh-effect distance early in the video, but later you nailed it. In this case, I'd much rather have the Galaxy S7 with me as it keeps all options open and has much better raw footage to play with.
