Hurricane Harvey is one of the most costly hurricanes in American history. In Texas and Louisiana, more than 30-trillion gallons of rain has damaged or destroyed more than 200,000 homes and totaled more than a million cars.

“As a Texan, I was heartbroken to see the effects of Hurricane Harvey,” says our bass singer, Tim Foust. “And as a native of Nederland, it’s devastating knowing that 500,000 people have been affected in my community alone.”

The Beaumont area is smaller than Houston, and as a result, they’ve received far less coverage in the media.

And so today, Home Free is proud to stand with Tim to support those affected by Hurricane Harvey, and in particular, Beaumont and its surrounding communities.

To get things started we have donated $20,000.00, and we are challenging our fans to come together to match that amount.

The money raised through this YouCaring campaign will go to the Nederland Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund and the Southeast Texas Food Bank, both of whom are doing amazing work in the Beaumont area. Tim’s family is still in Nederland, and his mother and sister have been actively volunteering with hurricane relief. They will be personally overseeing the Church of Christ efforts.

While Tim’s mom, Dena, and his childhood home are fine, many in surrounding communities are not. Beaumont lost its entire supply of clean water. Several schools are closed indefinitely.
The money raised here on YouCaring will go to help Southeast Texas get back on their feet. Food, water, shelter, school supplies, beds, cleaning supplies, tools, etc – there are so many things that they need right now. And we’re working with folks on the ground there to make sure they get them.

The Nederland Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund is a brand new entity, established for this endeavor. It is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) pending corporation, meaning that your donation should be tax deductible. Organizers have filed the appropriate requests with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Texas tax authorities for tax-exempt non-profit status. We expect this will take 4 to 8 weeks to complete, making donations tax deductible for the 2017 calendar year.

And in this tough time, we want to bring some levity and joy to the lives of everyone who is just now beginning the process of rebuilding as well as celebrate the way we’ve seen Texans come together to help one another. So, we’ve recorded a special version of The Little Texas song, God Blessed Texas.

All the proceeds from the sales and streams of that recording will also be going to benefit Southeast Texas.

Be sure to look out for that in the next couple of days.

Texas, we love you. We stand with you. We’re ready to help. And we know all our Home Fries are with you, too.

Arizona Kids Get Free Food While Teachers Strike

(2 May 2018) While thousands of teachers remain on strike in Arizona for a fifth day, closing down many schools, communities are rallying to feed families and take care of children, so their parents can go to work.
With hundreds of thousands of students left without a class to attend, churches, day camps and community centers opened their doors to provide child care. Teachers and volunteers also organized food drives for students and their families who rely on free and reduced-price meals.
The strike began on April 26 and closed a majority of school districts. Some smaller districts began to open their doors on Monday, while others announced they’d be closed for as long as the walkout continued.
Teachers and supporters have been rallying by the thousands at the state Capitol, demanding higher wages and more funding. Meanwhile, lawmakers are working to pass a budget bill that likely won’t meet some of the protesters’ demands but will include some pay raises and additional money for schools.
Teachers have said that if the bill is passed Wednesday, they would return to work on Thursday but if not, they will continue to strike, keeping schools closed.
The walkouts are the climax of an uprising that spread from West Virginia, Oklahoma and Kentucky.

Personal Biography

Born & raised in Reno, Nevada. I attended and graduated from a small, religious-oriented private high school. Went on to attend a first year of college at a religious-oriented school in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I have had no interest in religious matters whatsoever for more than 25 years and don’t plan on doing so again.

“Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution.” – Theodosius Dobzhansky

I Graduated Oregon State University in 1984 with a bachelor’s in Business Administration and two minor courses of study in mathematics / computer science, and naval science.

I was commissioned in the US Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) immediately upon graduation from OSU. After some 8 months attending various schools in San Diego, CA, I traveled off to Yokosuka, Japan to join my first ship, the USS REEVES (CG-24), where I served from 1984-1987 as the Assistant Missiles Officer, First Lieutenant, and then finally, Electrical Officer.

After those first three years in Japan, I crossed the pier for another two years, joining the U.S. SEVENTH FLEET embarked aboard USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19). From 1988-1989 I was both the Assistant Fleet Scheduling Officer and the Assistant Logistics Officer. I managed a fuel budget of $180 million.

I left Japan after five years and headed to Monterey, California, where I was a student at the Defense Language Institute for the latter half of 1989. Upon successful completion of the French language course, I headed to Toulon, France, where from late 1989 — early 1992 I took up duties an exchange officer with the French Navy: first aboard the FNS COLBERT (C 611), and later, the FNS DUQUESNE (D 603), both as the Navigator.

I left the US Navy in 1992 and returned to the U.S., San Francisco Bay Area. After a few false starts in entrepreneurial endeavors, I started a company in my bedroom in the summer of 1993 that evolved into what is today, Provanta Corp. I still regularly harass a modest cabal of employees.

Activity wise, I took up the sport of Hang-Gliding in 1996, and powered aircraft in 2005. Though I’ve soloed in the powered plane, I’ve yet to complete licensing requirements but plan too someday. I also fly sailplanes now and then.

In 2011 I celebrated my 10 year anniversary with my wife, Beatrice.

Robert Redford (Full Movie, Western, HD, English) Entire Film free full westerns

Full Western Movie, Full Length Cowboy Film, English: Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here (original title), 1h 38min, Drama, Western, 1970.

In 1909, when young Paiute Indian Willie Boy returns to his California reservation to be with Lola, whose father disapproves of him, a killing in self defense takes place, triggering a massive man hunt for Willie.

Based on true events, Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here, tells the story of one of the last Western manhunts, in 1909. Willie Boy, a Native American, kills his girlfriend’s father in self defense, and the two go on the run, pursued by a search posse led by Sheriff Christopher Cooper.

Director: Abraham Polonsky
Writers: Harry Lawton (book), Abraham Polonsky
Stars: Robert Redford, Katharine Ross, Robert Blake

Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here is a Technicolor movie released in 1969, based on the true story of a Chemehuevi-Paiute Indian named Willie Boy and his run-in with the law in 1909 in Banning, California, United States. The movie was written and directed by the once blacklisted Abraham Polonsky, who, due to his blacklisting, had not directed a film since Force of Evil in 1948.

PLOT (Wikipedia): The film’s story revolves around the Paiute Indian outlaw Willie Boy (Robert Blake), who escapes with his lover, Lola (Katharine Ross), after killing her father in self defense. According to tribal custom Willie can then claim Lola as his wife. According to the law, Deputy Sheriff Cooper (Robert Redford) is required to charge him with murder.

Willie Boy and Lola are hunted for several days by a posse led by Cooper. Willie manages to repel the posse’s advance when he ambushes them from the top of Ruby Mountain. He only tries to shoot their horses, but ends up accidentally killing a bounty hunter, resulting in another murder charge.

Days later, as the posse closes in, Lola dies by a gunshot wound to the chest. It is left deliberately ambiguous whether Lola shot herself in order to slow down the posse’s advance or whether Willie killed her to keep her out of the posse’s hands. Cooper is inclined to believe the latter and then goes off ahead of the posse to bring in Willie dead or alive. As soon as Cooper catches up, he comes under fire from Willie, who is positioned at the top of Ruby Mountain. Cooper narrowly avoids being shot on several occasions.

In the film’s climax, Cooper maneuvers behind Willie, who has donned a ghost shirt, and tells him he can turn around if he wants to, which he does. The two pause before Willie raises his rifle at Cooper, who beats him to the draw and shoots him. Fatally struck in the chest, Willie tumbles down the hillside. Cooper picks up Willie’s gun and finds that it wasn’t even loaded, making it apparent that Willie deliberately chose death over capture. Abashed, Cooper carries the slain outlaw the rest of the way down Ruby Mountain and delivers him to other Paiutes, who carry the corpse away and burn the remains.

When confronted by the county sheriff, Cooper is told that the burning of Willie’s body will ruin the people’s chance to see Willie in the (now-dead) flesh, denying them the ability “to see something”. Cooper retorts: “Tell them we’re all out of souvenirs”.
