[Church security officers told police that Judy had made statements to relatives that he had been told by God he was to lead the church. But the man said he came to Salt Lake City from California only to visit his three children and to give the “gifts” of rifles and food to the church’s prophet, the report states.]
“His actions, though bizarre, did not constitute a violation of the law,” said Salt Lake Police Lt. Dennis Tueller. Detectives interviewed Judy last week and were possibly going to release the guns to him. But he was unable to prove the guns belonged to him, said Sgt. Don Bell.

“He didn’t appear to be deranged, out of his head or violent,” Bell said. “He had his own agenda and religious beliefs.”]

[Smoot said Judy, a member of the LDS Church, had told police that he had had a vision about eight months ago that outlined the events that have occurred.

Sunday night’s fireside was being broadcast to college institutes all over North America but was blacked out during the incident and a “technical difficulties” sign on the TV alarmed viewers, BYU spokesman Brent Harker said.

“We were impressed with how calm President Hunter was. Everyone was astounded,” said Jennifer Hafen, a BYU student in the audience.

President Hunter went ahead with his speech without a quaver when the incident was over.

“I want to tell you how good your voices sound,” President Hunter said as he began his talk over again. The talk began, “Life has a fair number of challenges in it – as demonstrated.” He told the audience “despair, doom and discouragement are not an acceptable view of life for a Latter-day Saint.”

President Hunter continued saying, “I want to say to all within the sound of my voice tonight that you have every reason in this world to be happy and to be optimistic.”]

Cody Robert Judy spent 3018 days in persecuted in prison for religions beliefs. More than half of that was in solitary confinement over ‘the way he looked’ as he fought hand in hand to free the native American Indians from Maximum Security for the religions belief of not cutting their hair.

Judy sued the State of Utah for discrimination of gender to win his law suit and set the prisoners free of the gross injustice happening within the prison system.

Isaiah 11:10 – [And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.]
Romans 15:12
[And again, Isaiah says, “The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; in him the Gentiles will hope.”]
The Hebrew and Greek words are practically the same in meaning. “Root” means descendant, branch of the family or stock. The Messianic king was to be of the family of Jesse the father of David. In Romans 15:12 Paul quotes the Septuagint of Isaiah 11:10. Jesus is a branch or descendant of the family of Jesse, as well as of David

Doctrine and Covenants
D&C 113:1–2. Why Was Christ Referred to As the “Stem of Jesse”?
The Hebrew word which was translated into English in the King James Version of the Bible as stem means “the stock which remains in the earth after the tree is cut down”

1 Who is the Stem of Jesse spoken of in the 1st, 2d, 3d, 4th, and 5th verses of the 11th chapter of Isaiah?

2 Verily thus saith the Lord: It is Christ.

3 What is the rod spoken of in the first verse of the 11th chapter of Isaiah, that should come of the Stem of Jesse?

4 Behold, thus saith the Lord: It is a servant in the hands of Christ, who is partly a descendant of Jesse as well as of Ephraim, or of the house of Joseph, on whom there is laid much power.
[Joseph Smith Jr.]

5 What is the root of Jesse spoken of in the 10th verse of the 11th chapter?

6 Behold, thus saith the Lord, it is a descendant of Jesse, as well as of Joseph, unto whom rightly belongs the priesthood, and the keys of the kingdom, for an ensign, and for the gathering of my people in the last days.
[ Cody Judy is a descendant in and of the House of Judah, though both of his Parents were of the House of Ephraim]

Further Study:
The branch and the stem are both Christ (see Jeremiah 23:5–6; 33:15–17). These terms refer to Christ’s being of the lineage of King David, the son of Jesse (see Luke 1:32; Acts 2:30; 13:22–23; Romans 1:3).

The Shocking Truth About the Gift of Speaking in Tongues

THE SHOCKING TRUTH ABOUT TONGUES

What does the Bible teach about this gift of speaking in tongues? That’s what we are going to talk about today on the BEAT.
Hey what’s up everyone my name is Allen Parr and so today we are tackling the touchy subject of speaking in tongues. What is the gift of tongues? What are some misconceptions of tongues? How should it be used in the church?

What is the Gift of Tongues?

1) The gift of tongues originally was the supernatural ability to share the gospel in another known dialect without the speaker having previous knowledge of this language (like me speaking Japanese) – Acts 2:1-12
2) Some also believe it is the ability to speak and/or pray in an unknown language.

So What are some of the Misconceptions?

1) Everyone can learn to speak in tongues – The Bible teaches that tongues is a spiritual gift. It also teaches that the Holy Spirit is the one who distributes spiritual gifts to believers AS HE WILLS. So just like any other gift you cannot choose your gifts they are given to you. So I don’t how a Christian can learn to speak in tongues any more than they can learn to possess the gift of pastoring of healing or miracles.
2) The second misconception is…People who speak in tongues have more spiritual power than those that don’t – I don’t see anywhere in Scripture where a person who spoke/prayed in tongues was able to accomplish more spiritually than those that didn’t.
a. This type of mentality merely divides the church more than it already is into the haves and the have-nots and makes those that don’t have the gift feel inferior.

How should this Gift be used in the Church?

1) There must be an interpreter – So if you’re in church and everyone is speaking in tongues Paul says, what if someone who isn’t familiar with the gift or an unbeliever comes in? (Put yourself in their shoes) They will think they’ve just entered into a crazy place. (14:23) So the question is, “Why would you want to take a chance of offending, confusing or turning off an unbeliever from church simply because you feel the need to speak/pray in tongues in church?” Which is why Paul said, “I CAN speak in tongues but IN CHURCH I would rather speak in a language that EVERYONE can understand.” So even Paul said he doesn’t speak in tongues in church unless there is a KNOWN interpreter present.
2) Experience should never contradict Scripture – Sometimes people will say, “well I just felt the Spirit.” Saints, the same Spirit who empowers us to use our gifts is the same Spirit who inspired the writing of the Bible and He cannot contradict Himself by leading you to have an experience in church that goes against the writing of Scripture.

Finally, because a Christian’s view on this subject has nothing to do with salvation.

It is my prayer that your views and experiences with this will be based on scripture
Always remember to be sensitive to unbelievers when in a church…

Finally, be careful not to adopt the mentality that people who have the gift are more spiritual or more powerful than those that don’t.

I would love to know your experience with this as it relates to the church so please leave your comments below I’d love to hear them.

We should be focused more on exemplifying the fruit of the Spirit than we are with the gifts of the Spirit.

Jasper Williams Jr- The Power of the Cross Has Gifted Me For My Call

Jasper Williams, Jr.’s magnetic personality, blended with an explosive delivery style, has drawn audiences worldwide for more than three decades to hear his spirit-filled sermons.

He has emerged as one of the most influential spiritual leaders of this generation. As Senior Pastor of Salem Bible Church — “One Ministry in Two Locations” — his priority is expansion through evangelism.

Jasper Williams, Jr. was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 22, 1943. He was the first of four children born to the late Rev. Jasper Williams, Sr. and Alice Stewart Williams. He was raised in a devout Christian family environment, with strong moral values.

It was these strong and deep rooted values that led him to convert at the tender age of six. Acknowledging his call to the ministry, he began preaching the gospel early in life. He graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, majoring in sociology with a minor in religion.

On Easter Sunday, 1963, at the age of 19, Jasper Williams, Jr. was invited to preach at Salem Baptist Church on Martin Street in Atlanta, Georgia. His plan to return home as the Associate Pastor of his father’s church was interrupted when he accepted the call to pastor Salem in November 1963. With God’s blessing, Pastor Williams, Jr. has made Salem one of the key churches in the growing Baptist network.

Pastor Williams, Jr. has involved Salem in several notable social action ministries: a free psychological counseling program, a children’s day care center, the acquisition of property on which an additional edifice was constructed, and the development of a dual-structured, senior citizen high-rise. Grants were received totaling 5.6 million dollars for Phase I and Phase II of the Alice Williams Towers, in honor of his late mother.

Pastor Williams, Jr. has served on the Board of numerous service organizations. He chaired the Evangelistic Committee’s “Late Night Services” under the auspices of the National Baptist Convention USA. Inc., a position he held for 10 years.

He gained notoriety when he relinquished this title to become the “voice of the people”. He spoke about the relationship of Christian consciousness to social evils, which is how he became known as “a man with a heart for the people.”

In keeping with his mission to be the voice of the people, Pastor Williams’ most recent endeavor is as the founder of African American Churches Transforming Society (A.A.C.T.S.), a community based organization envisioned to be help revitalize churches, strengthen families and rebuild communities through churches working in concert with social and governmental agencies.

He is also the recipient of many awards and honors, among which are the Rev. C.L. Franklin Masters Award, the NAACP Award, and the Award of Excellence conferred by the Gospel Music Workshop of America. He holds two honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees – one from Miller University and the other from Temple Bible College and Seminary.

Pastor Jasper Williams, Jr. is the proud father of two sons, Jasper Williams, III, who pastors The Church in Duluth, GA and Joseph L. Williams, who serves as Pastor with his father and who acknowledged his call to the ministry and preached his first sermon in December 1998.

A smiling Prince Harry sang Happy Birthday to a young royal fan as she stood waiting to meet him on her ninth birthday.  Megan O’Carroll was stood with classmate Harry Edwards from St Werburgh’s Catholic Primary School in Birkenhead as the royal couple approached.  The school had sent their very own Harry and Megan to meet the royal couple, who were in town visiting a number of charities, having earlier unveiled a statue to war poet Wilfred Owen.  Amazingly as the group around the two schoolchildren started to sing, Harry joined in too.  The footage was recorded by Hello’s Royal Editor Emily Nash, who tweeted the clip filmed in Birkenhead.  Meghan came back over to see her little namesake, saying “I missed a happy birthday that was happening here.  “Is it your birthday? Happy birthday Megan.”  The Duchess of Sussex had already told crowds she was six months pregnant and even asked them what she should call the baby if it was a girl.  One replied that she she should call it “Amy” to which Meghan said was a “great name”.  For updates follow Mirror Online’s live blog  Dressed in a red coat and matching heels, with a purple dress, she was pictured cradling her large bump throughout today’s visit.  The couple were seen working the crowd, with hugs for schoolchildren from Harry as the receive gifts including a giant teddy and flowers.  They started the day with a visit to Hamilton Square, where they viewed a new sculpture to mark the 100th anniversary of war poet Wilfred Owen’s death.  The statue, by artist Jim Whelan, is entitled ‘Futility’ after one of Owen’s poems.  Video footage showed fans screaming ‘Meghan’ as the royal couple unveil a plaque to go with the sculpture.  Together, the couple lifted a purple sheet off the plaque as people cheered.  They then did a walkabout before being seen at the town hall.  The Duke and Duchess also officially opened ‘Number 7’, a ‘Feeding Birkenhead’ citizens supermarket and community cafe.  Feeding Birkenhead is a coalition of churches, food banks, community groups, and other organisations working together to eliminate hunger in Birkenhead.  The supermarket enables local families to buy their weekly shopping at a discounted price, and provides advice and advocacy on benefits, looking for work, debt, budgeting, and cooking.  Meghan and Harry will visit Tomorrow’s Women Wirral, an organisation that supports women in vulnerable circumstances and helps them make positive lifestyle choices and changes.  Finally they will visit the Hive Wirral Youth Zone.
